The story behind Social Light
We're two ordinary husbands / fathers / dog-owners who run our own businesses.
One, a café/deli owner, the other into IT. The IT guy had been hassling the café owner to get himself on the web properly - whatever "properly" meant!
The café owner had been cynically resisting all attempts to fast-forward him into the 21st century, until he had nowhere left to hide and had run out of excuses - "Don't have time", "Don't know how to", etc.......The IT guy had done this for his own and other peoples' businesses with a great deal of success and set up the café's "web presence", (whatever that means!) and started getting results within a couple of days, at which point the café owner took a bit of notice, the results got better and better and the rest, as they say, is history. . . .
Chatting one evening, they realised that this same pattern was probably repeating itself across the whole country - business men and women struggling with and resisting technology, the Internet and Social Media but knowing they need to do something but not knowing where or how to start - and Social Light was born.
The sole objective being to make it possible for business people who don't understand Social Media, want nothing to do with it, and don't have time anyway, to make full use of it without having to start "Tweeting", "Liking", "Following", "Checking In" and all the other stuff teenagers seem to be able to do whilst watching TV, listening to music, playing a game and doing their homework ........... all at the same time!
We provide a comprehensive Social Media service that delivers tangible results for people and businesses just like us, who went to school when computers filled a room, not a shirt pocket.
But we also want to live the "Social" aspect in other ways and do some good while we're at it and address the issues of what will become a lost generation by giving them the chance of a job, with decent training, prospects and pay, so they can buy their own deodorant, hair products, clothes and pay a little towards the vast amount of food they consume.
